The Residency FM3 is a Non Immigrant Mexico Visa and applies to any foreigner that intend to reside in Mexico, temporarily. To qualify for this visa the applicant must have a monthly income of 15,000.00, pesos. The income must come from outside Mexico, can be from social security retirement, property rentals or any investments. If the applicant owns property in Mexico the equity can be used as a proof of income.
The Residency FM3 is available for principle's dependents the income requirement increases to 7,500.00, pesos more per dependent.

Q: For how long is the FM3 Valid? A: for 365 days and must be renew every year
Q: Do I get a new FM3 every year? A: No one FM3 is good for 5 years but you still new to renew it every year.
Can I renew my FM3 if is already expired? Not anymore the rule changed in 2011, even if you are one day late it is consider reinstatement not renewal.
Q: Can I obtain the FM3 in the Mexican Consulates in U.S.A. A: The Mexican Consulates in U.S.A. Only take all your documentation and payment you still have to go to the local Mexico Immigration office where you will reside to get the actual FM3.
